Short term stock trading can refer to trading that takes place over the course of a day (day trading), a week or a couple of weeks. Short term stock trading can result in financial gain, however the risks are generally considered to be higher with short term stock trading than with long term stock trading.

Investments made over a longer period of time can weather the highs and lows of the market better than short-term investments.
